55mini

09 May 2009 |

Well, here is something interesting that I’ve been keeping under wraps for quite some time. I’m starting a business here in Japan!

Five years ago, I installed my first ALTA Performance product on my MINI. Ever since then I’ve been a huge fan of the company and my ALTA parts always get a lot of attention at MINI events here in Japan!

For a really long time now, I’ve been thinking about starting a shop specializing in ALTA parts and other overseas MINI products that aren’t available here in Japan. In October I decided it was time to act! I went to the bookstore and bought a book about starting businesses in Japan. It was all in Japanese, but I’ve been here long enough now to understand most of what it said.

I filed for a sole-proprietorship in April and my Internet shop goes online on May 20th! I’m pretty excited and judging by the reactions of the MINI community in Japan, so are they!!! I’m starting out small and I don’t really expect to make a ton of money, but you never know unless you try.

My company name is called 55mini which reads as, “Go go MINI!!!” in Japanese. Cool, huh? You can take a look at the main page by clicking here. It’s all in Japanese though. Oh, this is our logo:

Wish me luck!!!
