The Garage
30 Apr 2008 |I mentioned before that our garage is basically a car elevator. I got some email about the subject, so I decided to post a few pictures to show you all what I mean.

Our MINI is on the 2nd of 3 underground levels. There is a Peugeot on top that belongs to our neighbors, but nothing underneath. Not yet, anyways.

Here are the controls. You need a special key to operate the elevator. It only takes about 2 minutes to bring the MINI up to ground level. Since the MINI is usually underground, it is well protected from the elements.

See you later, MINI!

How cool is that! I don’t think my F150 would fit though.

Hey there, dropping by after clicking on a few links
heh. Anyway, I’m quite interested in Japanese culture as well as their technological advancement and environmental awareness - it’s sad that many other Asian countries fail to follow the excellent examples Japan has set (to make it worse, Japan has been doing that for decades!) The local TV broadcast little documentary clips about Japan every evening, and I got to know about the underground garage through them. It doesn’t only help to conserve space but also makes good use of what technology can offer us.
I’ve also heard of those huge, massive, robot-operated garages where you’ll just need to park your car into a container-like space, and then exit the car (of course, or you’ll get trapped or something) and then have your car stored in an underground parking garage that looks like those snacks vending machines we commonly see, for a small fee.
p/s: Nice Mini Cooper! When I save up enough, I’ll get a car like that - small, nifty and cute!
