Kobe Training
29 May 2003 |Hey guys! Just got back from training in Kobe. Man, am I tired! Anyways, sorry for the lack of updates lately… Pretty busy, you know…
Kobe is probably the most beautiful city I have ever seen… I really like it there… The city is so clean and new. Probably because it was destroyed in the 1990’s by a huge earthquake. Hard to imagine…
Anyways, here is a picture of me in Nankin Machi. Nankin Machi is Kobe’s China Town… Very cool place indeed…

I’m sure I’ll have more to say tomorrow, but for now it’s bed time!!! Goodnight all!

Hey man, quick question… how long is your tenure in Japan?

Hey Jeffrey this is Tom. I had no idea you were in Japan until I ran into your Dad about a month ago. How long are you going to be over there? If there is enough time I would like to come visit you, maybe even teach your class for a day. I think it would fun, or at least less annoying than the bratty sh**heads I’ve had to deal with for the last school year. I was teaching 8th Grade in Lincoln Park. Don’t get me wrong I had some great kids too, but there were a lot trying to get in this or that gang or fourteen year olds coming to class high or getting abortions (it was far worse than when I did my pre-student teaching in Detroit, but those were only fourth and fifth graders). I’ve been laid off with recent state cutbacks so I’m looking elsewhere for a job and have some hopefuls in Gibraltar, Monroe, Woodhaven, and Dearborn Heights, but there are a lot of districts laying off statewide. Scott Sitek teaches at the high school though and was able to keep his job.Take care and give me an email back it would be nice to hear from you. How do you like the fact that some little Detroit band that you could have seen two years ago for five bucks are international superstars?
