iTunes 4

Ha ha! As expected Apple released iTunes 4 yesterday. I must admit, I’m pretty darn impressed…

Some of iTunes’ new features include the ability to encode music using the new AAC format, instantly preview and buy music from the iTunes Music Store, share music with other Macs over a network and burn DVD archives of your music.

I was a little worried about the iTunes Music Store at first because the website says that it is only available in America… Oh, poo… I live in Japan! I really like the idea of downloading songs for $0.99… Especially since I can’t find all of the music that I want at my local store… Thankfully everything works great! Better than great, in-fact! Thanks to my American credit card I was downloading songs right away!

Ha ha! I finally got tickets to a Hanshin Tigers baseball game! The game is Sunday afternoon against the Carps. Great name, huh? Anyways, I can hardly wait!!! I’m sure I’ll have some interesting stuff to write about! I hear Tigers games are pretty wild…

Update:

Ok, so the Hanshin Tigers lost on Sunday, 6-2… No problem! I still had an awesome time! It was a good game, the weather was great, Koshien Stadium was beautiful and the fans! Oh man! I couldn’t believe how enthusiastic the fans were! I mean, they were sooo enthusiastic! They have a complex chant for nearly every player! Even the American ones! They sing, they chant, they dance and swing their arms in perfect synchronization! They must have practiced a lot! It was amazing! I was happy to be part of it and I felt very much at home. Here are some pictures:

Millions of crazy ballons during the seventh inning stretch and the outside wall of Koshien Stadium in Osaka. I can’t wait to go back!

Engrish Muffins?

A lot of my favorite foods are rare or non-exsistent in Japan… Last week I taught a lesson about food and my students asked me what American foods I missed most. Blueberry muffins topped my list. I told the students that every morning I stopped at 7-11 on my way to school to buy a blueberry muffin and some orange juice. My students were surprised because none of them have even heard of a blueberry muffin before, let alone tried one.

Anyways, when I got to school this morning I found a nice, home made blueberry muffin on my desk with a note from my class! I was so happy! Man, my students are nice!

While I was happily eating my yummy muffin I noticed some funny English on the wrapper… Here’s a pic:

And I thought my students made the muffin! Doh! This kind of thing happens a lot in Japan. Usually we refer to the phenomena as Engrish. You may want to check out Engrish.com for some more funny Engrish. You’ll thank me!
