My Viking Friend…
05 Mar 2003 | Comments OffSometimes I wonder about Japan… In a place with so much technology, why can’t I get a Bluetooth cell phone? Now that cool programs like Salling Clicker are coming out… I simply must have one!
For those new to Bluetooth, here’s the scoop…
Bluetooth is a wireless technology that provides freedom from wired connections - enabling links between computers, mobile phones, portable handheld devices, and connectivity to the Internet. Sony has been using Bluetooth in innovative ways for quite some time now and Apple adopted the technology this past summer… I see good things in Bluetooth’s future…
There are some really old Bluetooth phones in Japan, but they are not compatible with the latest applications… The most I can hope for is swapping contact information between my desktop and my phone…
I wish Japanese phone companies like NTT and AU would give Bluetooth a second chance… I have to admit though… I think AU is trying! They just released a Bluetooth adapter that works with most of their phones… It’s big and bulky, but it is a step in the right direction…

Fun Fact:
Bluetooth is named after a Viking king who preferred talking to fighting… He united the Viking kingdoms…
